F.A.Q.

What are the ball size and hoop heights?
For all ages, the hoop is 10 feet tall.

The ball size is:

  • 28.5" for girls
  • 28.5" for boys in grades 4-6
  • 29.5" for boys in grade 7-8

What is the uniform requirement?
We require players to purchase a uniform of a playing jersey and shorts. For 2021-2022,  gearUP Sports is our supplier and there will be an online store from which you can purchase the uniform and choose a player number. Additional logoed gear such as sweatshirts and shooting jerseys will be available for purchase, but not required. These uniforms will be used through the next two seasons. New uniforms will be required for the 2023-2024 season.

Does my son/daughter have to attend tryouts?
We only have gym space for tryouts on the weekend of Oct 9th and10th.  We recommend that players attend both days if possible. There is not a makeup date. If your player can not attend that weekend, we can not guarantee they can be placed on a team.

What if my player can only make 1 day of tryouts?
We are encouraging all who can make both days do so, but since we are lucky to have our coaches available to evaluate 2 days, it is okay if you can only make one of the days.

What if my player cannot make tryouts?
We use our tryout process to determine player skill and team fit.  Without a player’s evaluation data, we can’t fairly place a player on a team where other players are competing for the same spot.  This is especially important in age groups where there will be cuts.

What should my player do to get ready for try-outs?

  • Attend the clinics
  • Warm up.  It’s amazing how much difference 30 min of layups and free throw practice can help before attending tryouts, scrimmages and games.
  • Stretch
  • Bring a positive and focused attitude.

What are the behavior expectations of my player during tryouts?

  • Be positive and encouraging to other players trying out.
  • Work hard.
  • Stay focused and listen to the coaching staff instructions.  Hold your ball while the coaches are talking.
  • Please, no goofing around.  Remember, players are also being evaluated on their ability to participate in AND contribute to a competitive basketball environment.
